A SUMMER NIGHT'S MUSIC 2025!

ABOUT THE EVENT

Following the success of last year’s concert, Stratford4Europe is delighted to be hosting A SUMMER NIGHT’S MUSIC 2025! Like last year’s concert this event is being held to promote the campaigns of the European Movement UK.

One is FACE THE MUSIC which is highlighting the plight of musicians and other artists who have lost the right to work without barriers across Europe since the UK left the European Union. The other is a campaign to persuade the UK government to re-join ERASMUS +, a programme to support education, training and sport for young people across Europe.

At the concert we will be joined again by young artists who have trained or who are training at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. The Conservatoire is a world class institution with an international reputation for providing exceptional training for the musicians, actors, stage managers and performers of the future.

Performing will be THE AMALTHEA ENSEMBLE formed in 2022 by flautist Meg Diamond and cellist Alice Cheer with the aim of bringing chamber music in many forms to a variety of audiences. It is a flexible ensemble, working with a wide range of guest musicians including clarinettist Will Hammond, pianist Beth Haughan and mezzo-soprano Grace Hope-Gill. As well it has been commissioning new works from exciting composers such as Millicent B James and Georgia Denham.

The Amalthea Ensemble has performed in many venues and festivals, such as Beaminster Festival, Moseley Road Baths, the Alexandra Theatre, World Heart Beat and numerous churches across the country, including Shrewsbury Cathedral. Their debut recording ‘A Tale of Joy’ was recorded in 2024 and released as part of a UK-wide tour of the same name in partnership with, and fundraising for, the charity ‘Joy of Learning’.

Performing with them will be THE OTIUM SAXOPHONE QUARTET formed in September 2024. All four players are currently studying in their second year at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. The quartet was created from a group of friends and colleagues as a means to have fun within a chamber music setting in order to explore genres such as classical, jazz and commercial for audiences to enjoy.

The quartet consists of Florence Ryan (Soprano saxophone), Hannah Kermode (Alto saxophone), Evie Cooper (Tenor saxophone), and Tom Winter (Baritone saxophone). The quartet has enjoyed performing concerts this year to a wide variety of audiences.

Admission to the concert is FREE but owing to limitations on numbers strictly by ticket only which can be booked here.

Doors will open at 7.00 pm before the 7.30 pm start. There will be one interval when free refreshments will be available. The event will end by 9.30 pm.

The Hall at Holy Trinity Parish Centre is just across the road from ‘Shakespeare’s church’ and a 10 minute walk from the centre of Stratford.

For those travelling by car there is parking on the roads by the Centre or the Centre is only a short walk from the main car parks in Stratford.
