Meet me at the Matinée: Lady MacBeth (15)
Wed 16 Oct 2024 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM
Strathearn Arts, PH7 4AX
Description
Lady Macbeth is a tragic portrait of a beautiful, determined and merciless young woman in a world dominated by men.
Set in rural England, 1865, Katherine (Florence Pugh) is stifled by her loveless marriage to a bitter man twice her age, and his cold, unforgiving family. When she embarks on a passionate affair with a young worker on her husband’s estate, a force is unleashed inside her so powerful that she will stop at nothing to get what she wants.
Directed by acclaimed theatre director William Oldroyd and starring Florence Pugh and Cosmo Jarvis, the film is based on Nikolai Leskov’s nineteenth century novella Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk.
Meet me at the Matinée Following the success of our funding programme of Watch Warm Wednesdays, which allowed us to provide free screenings over the past two winters, many of our audience told us how much they loved coming together to watch films in the afternoon. So, this year, we’re introducing our Meet me at the Matinée programme, featuring a variety of films to entertain you as we head into autumn.
While this new programme is not funded like Watch Warm Wednesday, the ticket price covers complimentary tea, coffee, and homemade baked goods.
Doors open 2.30pm.
