MUSIC: John Paul Mason – Overstory

Comrie-based singer-songwriter John Paul Mason invites you into the wild heart of his debut album Overstory - a collection of songs three years in the making, born of rivers, forests, birdsong and a love of nature. Rooted in folk and with a deep reverence for the natural world, his music explores what it means to live well on this beautiful, wounded earth.

Written between 2021 and 2024, Overstory is inspired by the quiet wisdom of the land and a yearning to reimagine the cultural story we all carry. From the call of the nightingale to the shadow of crow, from the pull of wild white horses in the imagination to the healing currents of water and breath, these songs speak of spirit, loss, joy and the long road back to belonging.

A regular performer at the Crieff Folk Club, John Paul has long been a familiar voice in the local music scene. For this special launch performance, he will be joined by a full band of local musicians, with support from guest singers Anna Howells and Susy Wall.
