Out of School & Out of the Spotlight : Why We Need A Locally Led Social Compact to Drive Education for All
Fri 16 Sep 2022 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM EDT
Shearman & Sterling, 599 Lexington Avenue, Lexington Ave, New York, NY 10022, United States
Description
This unique roundtable event in the build up to Transforming Education Summit will be led by the Directors of three outstanding child-centred national NGOs - operating in countries facing three of the world’s most dramatic out of school children crises, underpinned by conflict, politics and poverty.
Please join Mohamed Sabo of Nigeria’s Almajiri Child Rights Initiative (ACRI), Palwasha Hassan of the Afghan Women’s Educational Centre (AWEC) and Christian Tanyi of LUKMEF in Cameroon for an evening of vital, lively conversation - convened by Street Child and moderated by a special guest.
For over two hundred million children worldwide the question is not ‘how can education’ be transformed but ‘how can I access education at all’. This conversation will focus on the enormous potential of locally-rooted action in realising a vision of a world where every child can access education.
Generous refreshments will be provided!
