Locally Led, Globally Backed: A Common Agenda for Education in Emergencies

Mon 22 Sep 2025 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM Allen & Overy Shearman Offices - 599 Lexington Ave, 10022

The Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) and Street Child, together with the Global Campaign for Education (GCE), will convene a high-level roundtable on the sidelines of UNGA 2025 to advance strategic dialogue on strengthening Education in Emergencies (EiE).

The EiE sector is facing growing needs amid deepening aid cuts. This is a critical moment to not only advocate for sustained prioritization and financing, but also to fundamentally rethink how the sector can structure itself, to better deliver for children and learners in crisis settings. This requires building a sector that is more equitable, locally-led, and more sustainably financed. This roundtable will engage key stakeholders from ministries of education, national civil society, and international organisations to discuss:

  • How can the sector better support local leadership and meaningful localisation?
  • What must change to mobilize more sustainable and predictable financing for EiE?
  • How can we move towards a unified advocacy agenda that is locally-driven and globally backed, focused on coherent messaging, rather than competing narratives?

The one hour roundtable will be followed by 30 minutes of networking, allowing attendees to connect and to continue this important discussion.

If you're booking multiple tickets, please use the names of the attendees rather than placing all tickets under one name. Thank you.
