Lecture Session 1: Targeting and destruction of the medical field in Gaza

Mon 1 Jun 2026 18:00 - 21:00 Goethe University Frankfurt

Since the beginning of the genocide in Gaza, Israel has systematically destroyed hospitals and medical infrastructure. Through bombardment, siege, and the blockade of electricity, medicine, fuel, and medical supplies, Gaza’s healthcare system has been pushed to the brink of collapse. Doctors and healthcare workers continue treating patients under life-threatening conditions while more and more people are left without access to medical care.

In this lecture, Palestinian researcher and health expert Dr. Layth Hanbali will speak about the targeting and destruction of Gaza’s healthcare system and its consequences for the Palestinian population. The lecture will address attacks on hospitals, the conditions faced by medical workers, and the broader humanitarian impact of the ongoing genocide.

Dr. Hanbali will join the event live from Palestine via Zoom. The lecture will be held in English and followed by an open Q&A and discussion. The exact room information will be sent via email before the event.

This event marks the beginning of our lecture series featuring Palestinian professors and researchers, organized in cooperation with Students for Palestine Frankfurt and Initiative for Academic Justice Frankfurt.
