Friends of Studio5 will know that Dee Alexander and Paul Marinaro are a couple of our favorite performers. They have each performed on our stage numerous times, always bringing artistically exciting and crowd pleasing projects to life for us. Dee sometimes performs with her brilliant group The Alexander/McLean Project, and has even presented her sumptuous original work, Ancestors Reign, featuring a unique instrumental ensemble with movement by mesmerizing dancer (and Guggenheim Fellow) Nejla Yatkin. Paul’s appearances have ranged from an intimate duet appearance with brilliant pianist, Ben Lewis, to his lush large ensemble projects (including strings) with both Mike Allemana and Jim Gailloreto, featuring music ranging from Duke Ellington to David Bowie. We are always thrilled to learn what new delights either Paul or Dee will bring our way next. Well, one thing we have never seen at Studio5 is the two of them TOGETHER – and here they are, backed by a great band. This will be one for the books. In addition to the artistic mastery that each of them possesses, there’s a playfulness to their stage presence that is going to make this evening beyond entertaining. I can hardly wait. –SR
