I called the great French violinist Jean-Luc Ponty and I said "So, who’s the new cat? Who’s got the stuff?" And he said Zach Brock.

Multiple Grammy-winning artists join John Moulder
I feel a bit like a broken record, but every time the remarkable guitarist/composer John Moulder appears on our stage he brings a unique, ultra cool element to his performance. Well, this is going to be another huge night for us. Are you familiar with the five time Grammy-winning band Snarky Puppy? If not, check them out. I was first introduced to their music by my sons years ago and was immediately hooked. They combine jazz idioms, rock, world music, and funk into an infectious musical stew. Snarky Puppy's virtuosic violinist, Zach Brock, will be joining John Moulder and his group at Studio5 for a one-of-a-kind, powerful evening of music. Zach is now based in New York, so this concert will be a bit of a homecoming for him: He graduated with a degree in violin performance from NU in 1999!

Also in John's quintet will be the legendary drummer Paul Wertico. Paul is another multiple Grammy-winning artist (that's a lot of hardware on one stage!), having played and recorded with Pat Metheny for more than 15 years. Paul Wertico and John Moulder are frequent collaborators and have a deep musical chemistry. And that's not to discount the remaining members of the quintet at all. Bassist Lawrence Kohut and pianist Vijay Tellis Nayak are monstrous players and have graced our stage several times each – we're always eager for them to return. This will be one for the books. I hope you can join us.

You can hear an example of John's playing from an earlier Studio5 appearance in the clip above, and check out Zach Brock's solo on the Snarky Puppy clip as well. –SR
