About Ikenobo Ikebana

Ikenobo is the oldest and most foundational school of Japanese flower arrangement (ikebana), dating back over 550 years to its origins at the Rokkaku-do temple in Kyoto. The Ikenobo style is deeply rooted in Buddhist philosophy, seeking to express the inner life, character, and natural environment of plants rather than just arranging them for decorative symmetry.

In this 1:1 programme, you will explore three distinctive styles of Ikenobo Ikebana through hands-on practice and personalised guidance from Serena Sensei. Discover the unique principles of each style and find the forms of expression that resonate most with you.

Moribana — exploring natural landscapes, depth and spatial composition.

Jiyūka (Freestyle) — exploring creative freedom through individual expression, colour and form.

Shoka — expressing the essential beauty and vitality of plants through refined lines and balance.
