The Seasonal Art of Ikebana
Join Studio Seren at 1 Hotel Mayfair for an intimate 90-minute Ikebana experience exploring the relationship between nature, form and seasonality.
Taking place during London’s Frieze Month, the session brings the 550-year-old Japanese art of Ikebana into a contemporary setting, offering a quiet moment of observation and creativity amidst the energy of the city.
Led by Serena Sensei, a Kyoto-trained First Grade Ikebana Instructor, guests will be introduced to the principles of Ikebana through seasonal flowers and natural materials. Rather than simply arranging flowers, Ikebana considers the individual character of each stem, the space between materials and the changing qualities of nature.
Working with seasonal autumn flowers, you’ll be guided through your own composition, exploring line, balance, space and movement.
Each guest will create and take home their own Ikebana arrangement.
No previous experience is required.

During Frieze Month
Taking place in London during Frieze Month, this special Studio Seren gathering brings together Japanese floral art, contemporary culture and the changing season.
Ikebana has evolved over centuries while remaining deeply connected to nature and seasonality. Through working with living materials, the practice invites us to notice their individual forms, movement and imperfections, creating an experience that is as much about observation as composition.
