A WELCOMING AND INTRODUCTORY WORKSHOP EXPLORING THE DYNAMICS OF CAREGIVING RELATIONSHIPS - FOR ANYONE WHO OFFERS CARE TO OTHERS, THIS MIGHT INCLUDE PEOPLE WORKING IN HEALTH, EDUCATION, SOCIAL CARE OR THE VOLUNTARY SECTOR.

Throughout my career as an art therapist, I have always been interested in working in innovative and accessible ways. I began drawing comics as part of my practice and discovered it was a good way to introduce and share psychological ideas and health information. In 2025 I published Connection Comics. Using these original illustrated booklets as a starting point, this workshop offers participants a chance to share, reflect and gain support with their experiences of caregiving.

The workshop will include :

  • A welcome drink on arrival and settling in.
  • A short presentation introducing the illustrated booklets and key ideas about caregiving relationships and ways to support your wellbeing.
  • Space for conversation and facilitated group discussion.
  • Time for Individual reflection, with option to work with art materials if desired.
  • Ideas for integrating this learning into your life and any next steps.

Joanna Stevens is an experienced art psychotherapist registered with HCPC and a founding member of The Association for Exploring the Dynamics of Adult Attachment. See more about her work at https://graphicattachment.co.uk/
