About Naka Akira 奈加あきら

Born in 1959, he started in the world of adult entertainment in 1985 entered the world of kinbaku in the early 1990s through his relationship with Yoshimura Shoichi (1952-2015), the founder and CEO of adult video company Cinemagic, where he met Nureki Chimuo (1930-2013).

From the early 90s, Naka Akira attended Nureki’s Kinbaku bi kenkyu kai (often abbreviated in Kinbiken) (Society for the research of beauty in kinbaku) during five years and was famously only authorized to tie after a 2 years attendance. Naka Akira, who received his stage name from Nureki Chimuo, is featured in the 16th issue of the magazine Kinbiken tsūshin (Bulletin of the Kinbiken) edited by Nureki.

Working at CInemagic, Naka Akira also met with AV director Tohjiro the creator later of AV company Dogma, a professional relationship still active today.

In 2001, Tohjiro established the adult video firm Dogma immediately employing Naka Akira. 2001 was also the year when Naka Akira did his first public performance at Mugen, the Sm bar in Roppongi owned by Hayakawa Yoshikazu, aka the writer Hige in defunct magazine SM Sniper.

From that year 2001, Naka Akira worked with all the major video companies producing SM related movies : Cinemagic, Taiyoh Tosho, Dogma (with director Tohjiro), Art Video (with director Muru Zou)

He also became the main bakushi for Sugiura Norio Kinbaku Sajiki regular publications. He met Sugiura Norio while assisting Nureki Chimuo for the monthly photoshoot for Mania Club, one of the few SM magazines still existing today. His work can be seen on Sugiura website www.sugiuranorio.jp

Among his video output, one can suggest, among a very large productions with many outstanding works:

The series 「縄悦」(jōetsu, rope ecstasy) directed by Muru Zou for Art Video (Number 1 to 12, from 2005 to 2014, with various digest re-issues).

『縄・七人のM女』(Nawa, nananin no Mjo) directed by Tohjiro for Dogma in 2007, as the name indicates, seven actresses, Hoshitsuki Mayura, Tomoda Maki, Hasegawa Chihiro, Hidaka Yuria, Mochida Akane, Izumi Marin, Ōtsuka Hina, in a simultaneous suspension.

But beyond his work for video and photo, Naka Akira also has played a key role is establishing in Japan and in the world the contemporary standard for kinbaku live performances performing regularly for the SM Taikai in the DX Kabukichō theater, in Loft plus One in Shinjuku, for the yearly event Sadistic Circus and many other venues in Japan.

In 2016, Vincent Guilbert filmed his documentary on Naka Akira : 『牡丹の囁き』(Botan no sasayaki, The whispering of the peony)

Internationally, he headed the bill for the international event Tōbaku in Tokyo in 2011, performed in London and Moscow in 2013, in Berlin and Los Angeles in 2014, in Paris in 2015, in Copenhagen in 2018, in Milano, Munchen and Paris in 2019 and again in Copenhagen in 2022.

He also organized from 2011 in a traditional house in Roppongi a regular Nawa Naka Kai 縄奈加會 (Society for the rope of Naka) modeled on the kinbiken. This series of events was followed by the still ongoing series Nawa Naka kai kinbaku satsuei kai 縄奈加會緊縛撮影会 (The photographic meetings of society for the rope of Naka) as well as the Seme nawa kinbaku kenkyu kai (Society for the research in kinbaku and tormenting rope (seme nawa))

Although Naka Akira has tied more that two thousand models, including uber-famous film actresses Kawakami Yū or Tomoda Maki, many of his live performances in Japan and most of his live foreign performances have been with live model extraordinaire Suzuki Iroha.

Naka Akira defines his rope style as « Naka style » but often uses the term Seme nawa (tormenting rope) to refer to some aspects of his approach to kinbaku. But he is also famous for insisting that « Rope is free », while enjoying very much the dialog with other rope practitioners.

About Iroha Shizuki 紫月いろは

Iroha Shizuki started her career as an AV actress with a production agency in 2008. In 2010, she discovered Kinbaku through a role in a Kinbaku AV production. With a strong desire to focus her work on Kinbaku, she contacted Naka Akira in December 2011 and got tied by him for the first time at the Nawa Naka Kai in February 2012. This marked the start of her Kinbaku modelling career.

Iroha Shizuki primarily models for Naka Akira in his lessons, live shows, Nawa Naka Kai and photoshoots with Sugiura Norio sensei. She has also worked with Yukimura Haruki sensei and his official students.

23 February 2024: Nawa Kai - A Rope Meeting with Naka Akira & Iroha Shizuki

Nawa Kai can be translated into “a rope meeting” which is a tradition of Naka Akira. Unlike shows or performances, Nawa Kai is more like a private session where two people tie in the most intimate way - without rehearsal and without music, where vulnerabilities are explored, darkest desires get revealed.

Nawa Kai is also a “meeting” - it is a place to share stories and experiences about Kinbaku - the history, the philosophy, the culture, and the aesthetics.

Please note that Nawa Kai might include nudity, consensual non-consent and edge play.

In order to recreate the Nawa Kai experience in Japan, limited number of places are available for the event. Priority will go to the workshop students, students of Naka sensei and Subay.

Language: The Nawa Kai will be conducted in Japanese with English translation.

Pre-requisites

Before you purchase a ticket, please make sure that you are aware that this workshop is for very advanced students and that you must meet all the prerequisites:

For the one tying:

• You must have a solid foundation in the techniques and concepts in Shibari.
• You must be proficient in tying a solid gote (preferably in Naka Style).
• You must be proficient in suspensions.
• You must have a good understanding of rope safety.
• You must be open to exploring Naka Style and traditional Japanese concepts.

For the one getting tied:

• You must feel comfortable being tied and suspended in a gote.
• You must have a good understanding of rope safety, in particular the difference between nerve compression and blood circulation loss.
• You must be open to exploring discomfort, suffering and vulnerabilities (both physically and mentally) in rope.
• You must be open to exploring Naka Style and traditional Japanese concepts.

If you are not sure about your level or whether you meet the pre-requisites, please get in touch with us so we can advise you accordingly.

Students who have attended the Naka Study Group in London, or have taken regular private lessons in Naka Style with Naka sensei or Subay will have priority.
