Workshop Descriptions
Beginner's Classes: The Basic, Women's Workshop, & Lil Lumberjacks
Over the course of a packed weekend, you'll learn essential chainsaw techniques, including maintenance, sharpening, felling, and bucking, all while prioritizing safety and regeneration. Over 2 days you’ll be able to put your new skills into practice on a real landscape being restored to health through regenerative techniques. Led by experienced instructor Aaron Stump, you'll gain valuable insights and practical knowledge to manage your own land responsibly and productively.
Please note that the Lil Lumberjacks class is for children ages 12-18, and students under 16 will require an onsite adult chaperone.
No previous chainsaw experience is necessary. All are welcome!
Prerequisite: Watch a 2 hour video, produced by Stump Regeneration, which will be forwarded once payment for the workshop is received.
The Advanced Class
This class expands on concepts introduced in the beginner classes. Over the course of the weekend Aaron will teach complex saw cuts; advanced fibre-reading theory; more intricate rigging, rope work, and winching; and will dive deeper into the complex relationship between trees and water along with the restorative applications.
Previous chainsaw experience is necessary. If you have not previously taken a beginner's class through Stump Regeneration, please reach out to Aaron at Aaron@StumpRegen.com to discuss your experience.
Only 8 spots available per class - so secure your spot quickly!

Schedule
All classes will begin at 9:00 am on Saturday, working a mix of class time and hands-on experience until the end of the day at 6:00 pm. You will spend the majority of the second day working with chainsaws on the actual project of land rehabilitation, again beginning at 9:00 am and working until 6:00 pm.
October 17th & 18th: The Women's Workshop
October 24th & 25th: Lil Lumberjacks
October 31st & November 1st: The Basic
November 7th & 8th: Advanced
If there is enough demand, we can also offer The Basic class on October 20th & 21st.
Please note we will be working with large chainsaws, felling real trees, on flat but uneven ground. You will need enough strength to confidently lift and maneuver the chainsaw as well as proper footwear that both protects and supports. We will also ask you to watch a 2 hour safety training video before attending the workshop.
