WINNIE'S MIDNIGHT DRAGON – CREATING THEATRE WITH LITTLE PERFORMERS

  •  Ages: 4 - 6 Years (School year Reception to Year 2)
  • Dates: Tuesday 27th October
  • Times: 9.00am to 3.30 pm (Performance takes place at 3.15pm)
  • Venue: St Werburghs Community Centre, Horley Road, Bristol, BS2 9TJ
  • Cost: £55 per child (discounts available, please see below)

St Werburghs Community Centre, in association with Bristol Academy of Drama, are delighted to be offering infant school children the opportunity to take an exciting and creative journey into the world of drama and performance. Children will be exploring and then sharing a short performance piece based on the wonderfully fun and engaging story of Winnie the Witch's Midnight Dragon by Valerie Thomas.

The day offers younger children the opportunity to develop the building blocks of drama and performance. The children will be introduced to performance by using drama games, characterisation exercises, storytelling skills and chorus work. It will help build teamwork, friendships, confidence and creative thinking skills. The day is designed for the children to have fun and introduce them to the world of theatre and performance.

Led by experienced drama facilitators from Bristol Academy of Drama, our young performers will build their new theatrical world by using costumes and props. They will not only perform in the play but, throughout the creative process, learn to share ideas and work with others to bring the story to life. Through speaking, listening and using imagination, children will build their understanding of how to dramatise a story and present a finished production for an audience of family and friends to enjoy.

Sign up now for a day of building fun memories, learning new skills and making new friends!

All children will need to bring is their willingness to get stuck in, their imagination, comfy clothing and plenty of food and drink to keep their energy levels up.

Due to limited spaces available, it is recommended that parents/guardians book early to avoid disappointment. Early bird and sibling discounts available, simply contact us for discount codes and booking information.

If cost is a barrier to participating, we would love to hear from you. Please email: events@stwerburghs.org.uk for further information.

Please note:

1. Bristol Academy of Drama are not a specialist SEND provision and the student should be comfortable learning in an energetic group environment. We regret that we cannot offer 121 support in group classes.

2. This workshop is designed for children who are already attending school. While some children who are 4 years old may have nursery experience, we’ve found that those who haven’t yet started school find the pace and structure a little overwhelming. If your child is not yet in a school setting, we recommend waiting until they’ve settled into school life before joining this workshop
