Sudani Voices: A fundraiser and cultural showcase event

Sudani Voices is a celebration of Sudanese culture and art - aiming to raise awareness, fundraise and connect the Sudani diaspora in Scotland during a time of ongoing crisis in our homeland. There will be food, music, art, films and performances (full details will be announced soon!).

This event is open to everyone, with some free tickets available for Sudanese people and tiered donation tickets available for non-Sudanese folks.

100% of ticket sales will be donated to Sunduq Al Sudan and Women For Sustainable Development Sudan (WFSD), both amazing organisations supporting mutual aid on the ground, so please give generously! You can also top up your donation at the event in cash or using the 'additional donation' option.

We also have a raffle that attendees and non-attendees can enter - there are over 10 amazing prizes up for grabs including 2x sauna vouchers, tooth gems from g41 gemz, lino prints, ceramics and a £30 Adrian's Bar bar tab. Tickets are £3 for 1, £10 for 5 and £15 for 10. They can be purchased here or with cash on the day.

As this event is open to all, we ask that you agree to respect everyone in attendance regardless of their sexuality, gender, religion, race etc. The organisers, speakers and performers are all Sudanese and are personally affected by the issues we are fundraising for so please give us grace and acknowledge your position in the space. No racism, homophobia, xenophobia or other forms of discrimination will be tolerated in the space - this is a space for joy, connection and learning - let's focus on that.

Rough schedule

• Opening, Sudanese lunch (included in ticket), and exhibition (12-1pm)
• Screening of 2x short films and panel talk with Sara Elbashir, Asma Abdullah and Venus (1-3pm) 
• Break 10 mins
• Performances from Sudanese poet Shadan Huzifa and singer Mawadduh (3:10-3:40pm)
• Raffle draw (3:40-4pm)
• Close, mingle and DJ set from E-NA$T¥ (4-5pm)

Entrance to the event is permitted at any time but please come early if you can to support.

Osama Yassir will be taking photos throughout the event, please let us know if you would not like to be photographed.

This event was supported by the Moniack Mhor Youth Led Fund which enabled us to cover the event costs, ensuring 100% of ticket sales can be donated to Sunduq Al Sudan and Women For Sustainable Development Sudan (WFSD).

About Listen Gallery

Listen Gallery is a non-profit sound arts gallery and communal listening space based in Glasgow. We are intentionally hosting the event here, as the only Global Majority-led arts space in the country which is also unfunded, relying mostly on volunteer labour.

As an organisation led by Global Majority perspectives, love and hospitality are foundational to their practice. The name LISTEN: Love Is Serving The Ears Now, reflects these values and informs every aspect of their work. We ask that in this space you acknowledge the labour, effort and love that goes into Listen and respect this.

أصوات سودانية (Sudani Voices) هو احتفال بالثقافة والفن السودانيين، يهدف إلى رفع الوعي وجمع التبرعات وربط الجالية السودانية في اسكتلندا، في ظل الأزمة المستمرة في وطننا. سيشمل الحدث طعامًا وموسيقى وفنونًا وأفلامًا وعروضًا أدائية (سيتم الإعلان عن التفاصيل الكاملة قريبًا!).

الدخول إلى الفعالية مسموح في أي وقت، لكن نرجو الحضور مبكرًا إن أمكن لدعم الفعالية.
