Reflections from walking the Hijrah route from Makkah to Madinah
Online talk and live Q&A with Suhaiymah Manzoor-Khan
In January 2026 (Rajab 1447), we were blessed with the rare opportunity to retrace the Hijrah route from Makkah to Madinah - a walk in the literal footsteps of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Amazingly, we walked in the company of Al-Habib Kazim Ja‘far Muhammad al-Saqqaf, a scholar of Tarim and a descendant of the Prophet ﷺ. His presence shaped the tone of the journey, our learnings, and connected us back to the original Hijrah.
The route follows research by Professor Abdullah Hussein Al-Kadi, whose decades of work and exploration have mapped the most historically grounded understanding of the Hijrah path. This research has been brought alive by the expert guides from Hijrah Hub Travels, whose knowledge of the terrain and route made it possible to undertake the walk with care, knowledge and love of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
I have shared a lot on instagram about this journey which was an incredibly introspective and awe-inspiring one. Connecting people to the walk has been a huge blessing but I know lots of people have not been able to attend in person so this online event is a chance to join me as I trace the journey, recollect key moments and my reflections since returning.
There will be time for Q&A at the end.
Supporting the wider work
The original walk was done with the intention of supporting my beloved place of learning: Muṣṭafā Mount (Greensville Trust) - a space of learning, worship, and community in Bradford, UK. Altogether £20,000 was raised by the permission of Allah. Likewise, to retain the connection and intention, a percentage of proceeds from this online event will be directed to Mustafa Mount also.
