Description
Join us for an unforgettable evening of Kurdish music as ROTÎNDA brings the rich melodies and heartfelt rhythms of his homeland to London. Experience the vibrant culture and timeless traditions of Kurdistan through his captivating voices and unique musical storytelling.
We are also delighted to announce a special guest performance by Suna Alan.
ROTÎNDA, born in 1962 in Gimgim (Varto), began his life amidst hardship and adversity. Like many artists, his passion for the arts emerged at an early age, and he later graduated from university. This passion led him to carve out a unique musical path, fusing the traditional sounds of his people with Western influences. For Rotînda, the pursuit of beauty and a deep love for humanity lie at the very core of his artistic expression. Throughout his career, he has released nine albums, making a lasting and profound impact on the world of music.
SUNA ALAN grew up immersed in Kurdish dengbêj (*bard) music and the cosmopolitan culture of Izmir, Turkey. Her portrait was featured in the "Women Role Models Project" by Brush & Bow in 2018. Suna has performed at Southbank Centre's "Women in Music" concert series and at Royal Albert Hall for a charity event supporting Turkey and Syria earthquake survivors. In Aug 2024, she was the sole performer at TEDxKings Parade in Cambridge, and she regularly performs at concerts and festivals, including with SOAS Kurdish and Rebetiko Bands.
