Jefferson Ross AND Todd Hoke in concert at Sundilla
Jefferson Ross and Todd Hoke will make their Sundilla debuts on Friday, October 16. Showtime at the AUUF (450 E. Thach Avenue in Auburn) is 7:30. Advance tickets are just $20; admission at the door is $25, and $15 for students. (This concert might take place on October 15.)
Jefferson Ross and Todd Hoke are solo singer-songwriters in their own right, but they are also close friends who enjoy performing together whenever possible. And those who know them are also strongly in favor of them performing together because when they do, the enjoyment is more than doubled. The music, the artistry, and the comedy… they are squared.
Southern folk artist Jefferson Ross is a songwriter, singer, guitar slinger and painter weaving stories for the ears and the eyes. Based in The Peach State, Jefferson travels throughout the U.S. and Europe performing his original music and displays his art at festivals and galleries across the South. Maverick Magazine says “A master singer-songwriter that every single Maverick reader needs to embrace. As a writer he’s in the same league as Guy Clark, Rodney Crowell and Jesse Winchester.” And Tammy Rogers of The SteelDrivers says “Listening to Jefferson Ross is like taking a road trip through the South, you get a sense of the places and people, the food and the history. A real treat! And if you aren’t from the South, you may just find yourself wishing that you were or planning your next road trip!”
Todd Hoke was born in Conroe, Texas (just north of Houston), lived in Austin for a dozen years, and currently pays his utility bills on time in Hendersonville, North Carolina. When compiling his bio he got bored and instead started a list of facts and accomplishments, including:
Todd Hoke has never been in a barfight but he has provided music for one. Seriously.
Todd Hoke very much wants to live in a world where strangers spontaneously burst into song. In harmony.
Todd Hoke was kicked out of the green room at Austin City Limits shortly after saying “Excuse me” to Eric Clapton. Todd Hoke has been exceedingly rude to rockstars ever since.
Todd Hoke earns his mortgage payment and/or beer money as a hospice nurse.
Todd Hoke probably couldn’t live off guacamole, but he would be willing to participate in a study to find out. For serious.
Todd Hoke very much likes Townes Van Zandt, Leon Redbone, Guy Clark, Tom Waits, and Louis Armstrong. Todd Hoke is also quite fond of his mother. And we’ve already mentioned guacamole so won't bring it up again here.
Todd Hoke (the one we’re discussing here) may or may not be the Todd Hoke doing flips on a wakeboard on Youtube.
Todd Hoke donates 100% of money from his CD/download sales to charity. Because Todd Hoke is a very nice person. Just like his mother says.
(There was more. A lot more.)
If either Jefferson Ross OR Todd Hoke were performing, it would be a great concert. But because they’re performing together, there could very well be people from Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and both Carolinas in the audience. What do they know that you don’t? Only that seeing Jefferson Ross and Todd Hoke together on stage at the same time is not only an event not to be missed, but one worth traveling a great distance to experience.
