Wild Tobacco Medicine & Rituals with Itzhak Beery and Christian Thurow

You are invited to step into the wisdom of a true plant teacher. This is a chance to meet Sacred Tobacco in the way it was always meant to be met—with respect, gratitude, and an open heart.

Tobacco has long been a bridge between worlds, a guardian of wisdom, and a powerful ally in healing and transformation. For centuries, shamans, medicine people, and indigenous wisdom keepers have worked in deep communion with its spirit, calling upon its ability to cleanse, protect, ground, and illuminate the path ahead. Unlike commercial tobacco, which has lost its sacred essence through misuse and processing, the wild and potent Mapacho–Nicotiana Rustica–remains a pure, ancient medicine, ready to share its profound gifts.

Together, we will explore the many sacred expressions of Tobacco—Tobacco Smoke, Tobacco Water, Rapé (Hapé, sacred snuff), and the power of Tobacco Bundle Prayers—each one a doorway to healing, clarity, and spiritual insight. Through guided shamanic practices, ritual, and deep journeying, we will open our hearts to receive the wisdom Tobacco so generously offers.

In this sacred space, we will listen, honor, and work with Tobacco as a prayer, a protector, and a guide. This is an opportunity to walk in ceremony with its spirit, to receive its teachings in a way that nurtures the heart and deepens our connection to the unseen realms.

Preparation and Important Notes

- This workshop is a sacred experience and not for recreational use.

- Please note: Not suitable for those with high blood pressure, heart conditions, or tobacco sensitivity.

- Come with an open heart and an empty stomach (light fasting recommended).

- Bring a journal for reflections, a small personal item for the altar, and comfortable clothing for deep ceremonial work.

- You're welcome to bring your own Rapé applicator (Kuripe and Tepi). Don't worry if you don't have one, there will be a few for sharing.

About Itzhak and Christian

Itzhak Beery (www.itzhakbeery.com) is a leading shamanic teacher, healer, speaker, community activist, and author of three Amazon bestsellers books. Since 1995, he bridges the spiritual and practical wisdom his indigenous teachers entrusted in him with a powerful contemporary approach relevant to our stressful and unbalanced modern times.

Itzhak apprenticed with Taita Don José Joaquin Pineda a well-known fifth-generation Ecuadorian Quechua Yachak (shaman) from the village of Iluman, who initiated him into the Sacred 24 Yachaks Circle of Imbabura. He was also initiated by Shoré, an Amazonian Kanamari Pajè (shaman) on the banks of the Rio Negro. Itzhak studied and assisted for 12 years with Ipupiara Makunaiman (Dr. Bernardo Peixoto) a Brazilian Pajé and his Peruvian curandera wife. Additionally, Itzhak studied with elders and shamans in North and South America, Greenland, Siberia. His contemporary teachers are Michael Harner, John Perkins, Hank Wesselman, Lewis Mehl-Madrona, and Tom Cowan.

Christian Thurow is a Shamanic Practitioner and Reiki Healer based in London.  Christian is the editor of the ShamanPortal Quarterly Review as well as the coordinator for the ShamanPortal Wisdom Webinar series. He studies with Itzhak Beery and other leading Shamanic teachers, including Imelda Almqvist, Steven & Renata Ash, John Lockley, the Foundation of Shamanic Studies and has worked with indigenous elders from Ecuador, Mexico and Peru. In addition, Christian is an initiated Pachakuti Mesa Carrier in the tradition of don Oscar Miro Quesada. He completed his Reiki 1 and Reiki 2 with Torsten Lange and Reiki III with Frans Stiene. He also trained Jikiden Reiki (Shoden and Okuden) with Rika Tanaka.
