Join us on Saturday 24 October for a mass sea dip on Hove Beach to show your support against the UK’s systemic sewage pollution problem. It will be a fun, noisy, informal dip. Bring your friends and family, make some noise on the beach and join an army of people across the UK standing up for the Clean Water Bill. Together, we can demand the clean and healthy waters we all deserve. Be ready for a big beach group photo before you enter the water.

Bring your placards and signs: #cleanthebill

The Dip will be followed by a closed meeting with local MP, Surfers Against Sewage Brighton Reps and local partners.

Our aim, as always, is to keep the pressure on, keep the issue in the news, connect with local MPs and show you how you can support the #Cleanthebill campaign.

Cost: This event is free, but we’ll have our charity tins out, so bring some cash. We will also have QR codes on site to donate online.

Tickets: We have 100 tickets allocated for the event. Please register your place as we need to ensure a high level of safety for all our supporters. Lifeguards will be on site on the day. We do ask all participants to be responsible for themselves and swim at their own risk.

This is a family-friendly event.

Please wear the correct clothing for the weather; the sea will be cold. Please consider wearing a wetsuit if you have one.

Bad weather plan: Please refer to social media for weather updates. The safety team on the day will make the final call. If the water is too rough to enter, we ask you to stay for a team photo.

What is the Clean the Bill Campaign?

This event is part of a UK wide mass Lobby to #CleantheBill.

This is your chance to show how much this issue means to you and your community, and to celebrate the water you love. Ahead of the Clean Water Bill starting its journey to officially become law, it's more important than ever to show them why they need to act.

This will be a national moment of celebration as well as pressure, where people across the country will be celebrating the water across the country, it’s a HUGE opportunity we have to force through real change.

We know the Clean Water Bill is coming. And this is our moment to fix the broken water system for good. This is the moment the law either changes or doesn't. As it stands, the proposed Bill protects the system that caused the sewage crisis. It protects the water companies and their shareholders, not the public, our health or our waters. MPs have the power to fix this Bill and they work for us, not the water companies. They just need to know this matters to the people who voted for them.

#Cleanthebill

What are we calling for?

The Clean Water Bill provides the best opportunity in a generation to create the legal and regulatory framework needed to transform the system. To end sewage pollution and protect people and the environment, we are calling for a Bill which will:

1 Reclaim the system— end this failed privatised model and set out a clear roadmap for a water system that works for people and the environment, not shareholders.

2 Protect our health and the environment— protect the health of water users and make water companies legally accountable for the harm they cause to public health and the environment.

3 Stop the polluters, stop the sewage— introduce a tough independent regulator, loophole-proof accountability, and enforcement that makes polluters pay.
