King Joe & The Atlantics (Hollywood Glamour)

Get ready for some seriously hot Rhythm & Blues and early Rock n’ Roll, because King Joe & The Atlantics are returning to Ruby’s for our Hollywood Glamour Night!

Yes, we will be rolling out the red carpet, so please dress to impress in your finest outfit or Hollywood character! It is Surrey Jive’s Christmas party, and we promise this will be a night to remember.

King Joe & The Atlantics are an outstanding six-piece outfit that boast a pounding piano, double bass and drums, fabulous two-saxophone horn section, that produces the big, driving authentic 1950s sound, demanding to be danced to. Heavily influenced by the electrifying sounds of Big Joe Turner, Amos Milburn, Jimmy McCracklin, Louis Jordan, Floyd Dixon and Tiny Bradshaw, you’ll have a pretty good idea of what these guys are all about. These guys have performed at Hemsby and the Rhythm Riot – one of the most respected events on the international vintage Rhythm & Blues and Rock ’n’ Roll calendar. At London’s famous Half Moon Putney, they were joined by legendary guitarist Albert Lee and British Rock ’n’ Roll star Mike Berry. As impressive as that is, résumés only tell you so much about a band… King Joe & The Atlantics are a band you really need to experience live. They have the musicianship, authentic sound and, most importantly for us at Ruby’s, they know how to fill a dance floor! These guys are the REAL DEAL, please don’t miss them.

In between sets Shakin Shep (Surrey Jive’s resident DJ) will be playing from his huge collection of ‘Red Hot and Blue’ floor fillers that include RnB, Rock n’ Roll, Rockabilly and Jump Jive. So, don’t forget to say you heard it first at Ruby’s ‘The Home of Happy Feet.’

Our dances are well attended, and you will find a warm and friendly atmosphere to greet you. Ashtead Peace Memorial Hall, Woodfield Lane, Ashtead, Surrey, KT21 2BE has a large sprung dance floor, licensed bar and large free car park. The hall is situated close to the M25.

Thank you very much for looking and we hope to see you on the dance floor!
