The 9 Pillars of Preparedness — One-Day Live Course
***For security purposes, the exact event location will not be announced to ticket holders until late Sept. or Early Oct., but it will be held close to the Mt. Pocono PA area*** Non-ticket holders will not be given the address.
Preparedness doesn’t have to be complicated. You just need to know where to start, what actually matters, and how all the pieces fit together.
Survival Summit Live is a full-day, beginner-friendly preparedness course designed to give you a practical understanding of how to become better prepared for emergencies, disasters, disruptions, and unexpected situations.
This is not a physically demanding wilderness survival class.
Instead, you’ll spend the day learning directly from The Survival Summit through live presentations, whiteboard instruction, real-world examples, extensive gear displays and demonstrations, and open discussion.
Throughout the day, we’ll break preparedness down into the 9 Pillars of Preparedness, giving you a framework you can actually use instead of simply buying random gear and hoping you have what you need. We'll also review P.A.C.E. Planning and Situational Awareness.
You’ll see the equipment firsthand, understand why certain items matter, learn how different pieces of a preparedness plan work together, and walk away with a much clearer idea of what you should, and shouldn’t, be doing.
WHAT WE'LL COVER
THE NINE PILLARS OF PREPAREDNESS
We’ll walk through each of the nine pillars and show the equipment, systems, planning considerations, and priorities associated with each one.
Rather than simply giving you a shopping list, the goal is to help you understand why something belongs in your preparedness plan, when you may need it, and how it fits into the bigger picture.
BUGGING IN VS. BUGGING OUT
Should you stay home during an emergency, or should you leave?
There is no universal answer.
We’ll discuss:
- When bugging in may make more sense
- When evacuation may become necessary
- How to establish decision points before an emergency happens
- Primary and alternate evacuation routes
- Vehicle considerations
- Family communication
- Rally points and alternate locations
- What belongs in a realistic bug-out plan
- Common bug-out mistakes
The goal isn't to convince everyone to run for the woods. It's to understand your options and have a plan before you're forced to make decisions under stress.
PACE PLANNING
A good emergency plan shouldn't have only one option.
We'll introduce the PACE planning concept:
Primary
Alternate
Contingency
Emergency
You'll learn how to use PACE planning for areas such as:
- Shelter
- Fire, Water, Food
- Medical
- Signaling
- Land Navigation
- Personal Protection
- Transportation
- Evacuation routes
- Power
- Meeting locations
- Emergency contacts
- Essential equipment
PACE gives you something extremely valuable during an emergency:
Options.
SITUATIONAL AWARENESS
Preparedness begins long before an emergency.
We'll discuss practical situational awareness and how to become more observant without becoming paranoid.
Topics include:
- Recognizing what is normal in your environment
- Identifying changes and potential warning signs
- Avoiding distraction
- Understanding levels of awareness
- Decision-making under stress
- Developing useful everyday habits
- How awareness affects avoidance and emergency response
GEAR — A LOT OF GEAR
One of the biggest parts of Survival Summit Live will be the gear itself.
You'll be able to see preparedness equipment laid out and organized by category instead of trying to figure everything out from pictures on the internet.
We'll discuss:
- What we use
- Why we use it
- What features actually matter
- What you probably don't need
- Budget-friendly alternatives
- Where expensive equipment may or may not be worth the money
- Common gear mistakes
- How equipment should fit into an overall preparedness plan
This isn't about telling everyone they need to spend thousands of dollars. Training is far more important than gear.
Knowledge, planning and capability come first. Gear supports the plan.
REAL-WORLD PREPAREDNESS
We'll also discuss how these concepts apply to realistic emergencies, including situations such as:
- Extended power outages
- Severe weather
- Natural disasters
- Evacuations
- Supply disruptions
- Communications failures
- Vehicle emergencies
- Being away from home when something happens
- Unexpected events that disrupt normal life
Rather than focusing on one specific disaster scenario, the course is designed around building capability that applies across many different situations.
LIVE Q&A
Questions are encouraged throughout the course.
There will also be dedicated time to discuss preparedness questions, gear choices, planning challenges and individual situations.
If you've ever found yourself wondering:
“Okay... but what should I actually do?”
This course is designed to help answer that.
WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
No previous survival or preparedness experience is required.
Survival Summit Live is designed for:
- Beginners or Experienced
- Individuals and families who want to become more prepared
- People who already own preparedness gear but want a better plan
- People overwhelmed by conflicting information online
- Experienced preparedness-minded attendees who want to refine their systems
- Anyone who wants to become more capable and less dependent during an emergency
You don't need to be a “prepper.”
You don't need thousands of dollars in equipment.
And you don't need to believe the world is ending.
You simply need to recognize that emergencies happen, nand being prepared gives you more options when they do.

This is primarily an indoor, seminar-style educational course featuring:
- Live instruction
- Whiteboard presentations
