Summer Tin Embossing Workshop

Come and join artist, designer and creative director Susan Bradley for this tin embossing workshop. You'll learn how to create beautiful small creations from thin gauge metal that you can cut and emboss by hand. You can make them into small artworks you can frame for your home, or you'll be able to make them into hanging ornaments which catch the light beautifully.

Susan will guide you in a relaxed and fun way to create something special, beautiful and handmade by you. You'll get to slow down, be creative and mindful, and learn something new.

Inspired by Susans award-winning signature metal cut-out designs, these hand-made small metal works are made from thin sheets of tin.  Susan will show you how to cut and emboss the thin metal sheet by hand, with the tools provided in the workshop for you. 

We'll have gorgeous Summer flowers and foliage around the space as inspiration for you to use for your creations. As well as guide sheets that you can use as templates so you can simply follow these and create a series of the designs provided - flowers, foliage, bees and butterflies. So it's up to you if you want to use your drawing skills and create your own designs or follow the templates, either way you'll make something beautiful. 

All materials and equipment will be provided for you to create a set of 6 to 8 tin individual small works. You can then mount them onto card ready to frame, or you'll be able to thread them into a cotton hanger - your choice.

What to bring along:

No prior experience is required, and there will be template

s for you to use. This is a workshop that is fun for everyone.

If you want to bring along any of your own inspiration or images to work from for your own designs then please do. 

If you need reading glasses for close up work, then please bring them along. Also if you need left handed scissors, please bring those too.

The wonderful Sketch cafe will be open for the afternoon, and you'll be able to buy delicious cakes and bakes, and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to enjoy as you create. 

About the artist:

Susan Bradley is a designer and artist based and from Yorkshire. Her award winning metal designs range from large scale exterior wall installations to small interior products. Her clients include museum and art galleries around the world, along with companies such as Donna Karen New York, Urban Outfitters, Christian Louboutin and Harvey Nichols (for who she designed the backdrop to their infamous Christmas windows 15 years ago)

Her designs have been sold in museums including the V&A, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, The Baltic, National Portrait Gallery and London Transport Museum.

She first developed her tin decorations workshop over a decade ago for an Arts Council museum project.

Terms & Conditions - The small print

• Workshops must be booked in advance due to limited places
• Refund Policy: 60 days prior to start date. If a cancellation is made 60 days prior to the start of the event, then your payment can be refunded (minus payment processing fees) or you can transfer to another workshop.
• If cancellations are made after this time I CANNOT provide a refund or transfer to another later event, unless I have people on a waiting list who will take your place. You are welcome to find someone to fill your place and for them to come instead if you (and this is totally totally fine to do). I will also try my best to fill your place for you, but this can be tricky if it's last minutes in particular. Should I be able to fill your place then you can either transfer your payment to a future event, or receive a refund (minus payment processing fees).
• Unfortunately we are unable to offer a refund due to covid or any isolation period due to covid - unless I can fill your place.
• We reserve the right to cancel a course or workshop if we have insufficient numbers. Should this happens we will offer you a place on another course or workshop, or refund your money - whichever you prefer. This is highly unlikely, but we just have to mention it.
