The Blunter Brothers at East Court

The Blunter Brothers, a Classic Funk, Soul and Mowtown band are playing at East Court Meridian Hall on Saturday 14th December. Doors open at 7pm with the band starting around 8.30pm.

  • Chilli - A hearty dish of spiced minced beef, kidney beans, and tomatoes - served with rice and topped with cool sour cream and crunchy nachos
  • Veg Chilli - A veggie take on the classic dish made with chick peas, kidney beans, peppers and carrots, served with rice, sour cream and nachos
  • Cheese panini - A warm, toasted panini filled with melted cheese
  • Cheese and ham panini - A warm, toasted panini filled with melted cheese and ham
  • Mediterranean panini - Toasted panini filled with chorizo, melted cheese, sliced peppers and onion

The band covers all the hits from artists such as James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Curtis Mayfield, The Average White Band and many more. Originally from Sussex, The Blunter Brothers formed way back in 1989 and has become established as one of the premiere ‘Revue’ acts in the country. The band was headhunted to play the Hammersmith Apollo for comedian Stephen K Amos’ nationwide tour finale and is the only band to have been asked to play at the BBC sports personality of the year after show party. In fact, they were asked back and did it two years in a row.

Dave Baxter, manager of the Blunter Brothers, said “The band is really looking forward to playing at this great venue. We know that there are lots of Funky people in and around East Grinstead and this is a great chance to see an old school band playing Classic Funk, Soul and Motown the way it used to be. Members of the Blunter Brothers have worked with, amongst others, Sir Elton John, Sir Cliff Richard, Joan Armatrading, Mica Paris, Nelly Furtado, Joss Stone, Tears For Fears, Heather Small (M People) and Macy Gray!

Mr Pee Wee Ellis, James Brown’s sax player/MD/Co-composer from the 60’s said about the Blunter Brothers: “Played a great gig with The Blunter Brothers last weekend. Nice camaraderie between the guys and a good vibe in the evening”.

Hollie Farris, Mr Brown's trumpeter/bandleader from the 80’s said about the Blunter Brothers: “When I started listening to the tracks, I thought it was a recording of us 20 years ago! You guys really nailed it. Good, tight band”.

If you fancy a Funky Good Time (and a Boogie!), this is one not to be missed.

A fully licensed bar and street food will be available on the night.
