About the course

This course is designed for individuals and communities as a guide towards a better understanding of the climate crisis and where you fit in the big picture. Everyone can play a part in tackling the biggest issue of our time; all that matters is choosing to be bold in your own context. Whether you’re a student, a new parent, entering politics, working in music, a farmer, stacking shelves, between jobs, young or old, part of a community group, faith network, or a big organisation, everyone has influence, and everyone can start making meaningful changes. This is exactly what Carbon Literacy helps you uncover; your own power to act and inspire others.
Being aware of your carbon footprint isn’t about being perfect, it’s about being equipped, confident, and connected enough to take the next step, whatever that looks like for you or where you are in life. From the basics of climate science to saving money, from building stronger communities to linking climate action with social justice, this workshop ties it all together.
At the end of the course, participants will think of an individual and group action that they can implement in the near future. This is submitted to the Carbon Literacy Project, then they’ll receive their certification. Their action plan is not followed up! It is designed to demonstrate that they understand the cause and effect of climate change, and have a clear vision on what needs to be done.
The course will give you:
- The super-simple reality of the natural carbon cycle, what is disrupting it and it's affects locally and globally
- How to chat about climate change with your friends and colleagues
- How to measure your own impact and see that even the smallest things you do can make a HUGE difference
- How to create a personal action plan which cuts your carbon footprint without breaking the bank or sacrificing the things you love
- How to find your own agency and setting a precedent for yourself and those watching and learning from you
- A workbook and a course summary will be provided
- A personal action plan
