Come and join us for this 12 mile family friendly ride along quiet roads and trails from Heaton Moor to Wythenshawe Park. We will be visiting Wythenshawe Hall for the Centenary Celebration! There will be a chance to use the pump track and great trails within the park.
Wythenshawe Hall was the home of the Tatton family for over 600 years, which is now owned by Manchester City Council.
The Hall and the surrounding 250 acres of park land, were given to the city by Lord and Lady Simon in 1926 to be enjoyed by the people of Manchester and beyond, hence the Centenary celebration in 2026! The Hall served as an art gallery and museum until its temporary closure in 2010. Wythenshawe Hall was damaged by a fire in March 2016, but - fortunately - the Fire Service did an amazing job and saved the building from complete destruction. Up until the fire, The Friends of Wythenshawe Hall had been working to open the Hall on a regular basis for themed, seasonal events.
The official re-opening of Wythenshawe Hall took place in October 2022.
This 12 mile ride is designed for families.
The Route: is perfect for riders of all skill levels and is mostly on gravel or tarmac cycle paths. There are a few main roads to cross, and some minor roads. The gravel tracks can be rough in parts and we recommend at least 28mm tyres. Electric bikes and trailers are welcome.
The Scenery: The countryside on the TPT at this point is very pretty, mostly wooded trials running alongside the river.
Bring: Please bring a roadworthy bike, a drink and perhaps a picnic lunch.
Weather: Please check the weather forecast and dress accordingly. We ride rain or shine
Please note all attendees must bring their own roadworthy bike. Under 18s are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please check the weather on the day and dress appropriately, we will cycle rain or shine!
