Climate Adaptation: Closing the Awareness-Action Gap

Wed 11 Nov 2026 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM GMT Online, Zoom

Overview

Are you working to engage stakeholders in adopting adaptation measures, and finding that information alone is not enough?

Do you know the importance of behaviour change principles, but aren't sure how to implement them in your own work?

Ready to try new approaches, but want a safe space to test them, beyond reading about them or asking AI for advice?

The UK Government's July 2026 report, Putting People at the Centre of UK Climate Adaptation and Resilience, acknowledges that "the actions that people can take, and their effects, are influenced by a range of social, behavioural, economic, and cultural factors. To improve adaptation, we need to understand the social conditions that shape what is possible and take these into account when developing interventions and making policy."

Join Behaviour Change Consultant, Livvy Drake (Sustainable Sidekicks) whose clients include Patagonia, London Marathon, City to Sea, Keep Scotland Beautiful, the Chartered Institute of Wastes Management, West of England Combined Authority, West Midlands Combined Authority, and Cambridgeshire County Council, for an interactive session covering:

Speaker

Livvy has been working on behaviour change engagement for 10 years, working with NGOs, local authorities and consultancies.

As a sustainability practitioner, she identified that fellow sustainability leads and environmentalists were limiting the impact of their work by falling into two common traps: assuming awareness raising was enough to drive change, and communicating their own values and drivers, then feeling frustrated when others didn't respond the same way.

Since 2018, Livvy has been delivering online and face to face behaviour change training. Clients include: Patagonia, London Marathon, City to Sea, Keep Scotland Beautiful, Chartered Institute of Wastes Management, West of England Combined Authority, West Midlands Combined Authority, and Cambridgeshire County Council.
