Tour Trainee

Tour Trainees shadow guided tours to learn how tours are conducted at the Sutro Tunnel Site, including visitor management, safety procedures, interpretive techniques, and the history of the site.

Trainees are expected to quietly observe the tour, take notes for their own training purposes, and learn the standards and expectations for future tour guides. With permission from staff, trainees may also assist by filming portions of tours for internal training and educational use by the organization.

Tour Trainees may also assist staff by helping maintain tour boundaries and politely redirecting self-guided or non-ticketed visitors away from active guided tours. Trainees may provide visitors with information about booking future tours, events, or self-guided experiences at the site.
