Fused Glass Taster Session & Handcrafted Glass Garlands Workshop at Wightwick Manor NT

Sun 18 Oct 2026 10:30 - 14:30 BST National Trust Wightwick Manor, WV6 8EE

Sunday 18/10/26

10:30am-11:30am & 12:30pm-2:30pm - PLEASE NOTE THESE TIMES ARE DIFFERENT FROM MY USUAL SESSIONS
Taking place at Wightwick Manor in their craft/conference room. Ask for directions as you arrive.
Throughout the day Wolverhampton glass artist Suzie from Suzie Lavender Contemporary Glass will be teaching two sessions of fused glass making techniques. You are welcome to attend either the morning or afternoon workshop or you can attend both sessions for the day at a discounted price. These workshops are suitable for beginners or as a refresher course.  Your workshop ticket also entitles you to full entry to the Manor and Gardens, Café, Gallery and shop!

The schedule for the day is as follows:

Morning Session 10:30am-11:30am: Fused Glass Creations - Taster Workshop –In this one‑hour taster session you’ll get a gentle introduction to glass fusing using colourful glass pieces and simple techniques. You’ll explore a small selection of tools and materials, with clear guidance at every step. By the end of the session, you’ll have made two lovely creations of your own: a suncatcher and a pendant. This workshop is suitable for adults and for older/responsible children who are accompanied by a paying adult. Due to the size of the room only paying participants can attend.

Lunch (not provided) 11:30-12:30pm. Wightwick Manor has a café on site and many areas for enjoying your lunch in the fresh air if the weather suits.

Afternoon Session 12:30pm-2:30pm: Handcrafted Glass Garlands Workshop - In this workshop, you’ll design and create a hanging 2D glass garland. You’ll build a garland shape (around 12cm wide) by cutting, layering, and gluing colourful glass pieces and accessories, then adding decorations in a colour scheme you love. You’ll be introduced to a range of beginner‑friendly materials and tools while learning simple glass fusing and layering techniques. Each participant will make one large hanging garland, which will be kiln‑fused after the session and ready to collect two weeks later. Once collected, you can thread a ribbon through and proudly display your handmade garland at home.

Participants who are regular attendees of Suzie’s workshops are welcome to make different projects to save repetition if they contact Suzie in advance.

All creations will be kiln fired by Suzie following the sessions and then collection from Wightwick Manor (or postage of the work can be organised) from 14days later.
Places are limited and expected to book up very quickly. Suitable for adults and for teens age 13 and over, under 16's must be accompanied by a participating adult.

Your workshop tickets also include full entry to the Manor and Gardens.
