AI is rapidly reshaping how research gets done — but knowing how to use it well is what matters. This session cuts through the noise to show researchers where to start, which tools are actually useful (and when), and how to integrate them into real research workflows. Grounded in practical examples and Dr Naomi Tyrrell's CARE framework, it focuses on using AI in ways that can enhance - not replace - research judgement, rigour and integrity.

You will discover:

  • Use AI for analysis, summarising, synthesis and idea development
  • Learn prompt engineering techniques to get more accurate, relevant results
  • Experiment with AI tools tailored to academic and applied research
  • Address complex ethical and practical issues around automation and transparency

You will receive:

  • Workshop slides and notes
  • Customisable prompt templates
  • Recommended AI tools list

This session is ideal for researchers who want to go from experimenting with AI to integrating it confidently into their day-to-day practice.
