What is Baby & Me Yoga?
Baby & Me Yoga is a gentle, welcoming post-natal yoga class designed to help you rebuild pelvic floor and core strength, move your body safely and gradually get back into exercise — all while spending time with your baby. This isn’t about “bouncing back” or getting your pre-baby body back. It’s about feeling stronger, more comfortable and more like yourself, while supporting your physical and mental wellbeing during those early months of parenting. Babies are very much part of the class, with songs, playful movements and exercises that involve lifting, holding or moving with your baby. And yes, sometimes your baby might cry, need feeding or simply decide they’d rather do something else — that’s completely normal and absolutely fine!
Although the yoga is post-natal in style, all parents and caregivers are welcome — you don’t have to have carried or recently given birth to come along. Dads, grandparents, aunties and anyone else caring for a baby can join in too. Expect a relaxed, non-judgemental and supportive atmosphere, with plenty of opportunities to chat, laugh and meet other parents who are in the same boat. Optional WhatsApp groups help keep that connection going beyond the class, because the friendships and community you find in those early parenting days can be every bit as important as the yoga itself. Come as you are, with your baby just as they are, and leave feeling a little stronger, calmer and more connected.
When can I start Baby & Me Yoga?
This answer very much depends on you and the type of birth you had (if you're the birthing parent). Please read the below information carefully and get in touch with me and/or your medical caregivers if you're unsure.
You can start from 6 weeks after baby is born if you had a straight forward vaginal birth and have been signed off by your GP at the '6 week check'.
If you had a caesarean birth, forceps, Vontuse, episiotomy, or 3rd/4th degree tear, please wait until your baby is 10 weeks (and you've been signed off by your GP).
Please note that I ask if you have been signed off by your GP for my own insurance purposes. I would personally also recommend all women who have had a baby visit a specialised women's health physio for a 'mummy MOT' which is a very thorough check. Locally, 'The Mum Physio' is excellent. This isn't a requirement before you start this class but might be something worth exploring in order to help your long-term health goals.
Can I bring siblings?
Usually, no, because this class isn't suitable for toddlers or walking children. However, I am happy to make an exception for one-off classes such as if your school-aged child has an inset day or is on school holidays, etc. Please discuss this with me before you book if you can see that one of the dates may be an issue.
If you have twins or multiples you are very welcome to bring both/all of your babies and only pay for one ticket. Please tell me on the booking form (in the 'baby's name' question) how many you are bringing.
