Friday Night Wine School - Massimo Alois of Cantine Alois in Campania

Fri Jul 3, 2026 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM CDT Swirl, 70119

Wine School: Drink Better, Know More - We connect the dots between grape, place, and process in a way that’s clear and useful so you can trust your palate, choose with confidence, and get more out of every bottle.

Campania may be one of Italy's oldest wine regions, but many of its most fascinating grapes were nearly lost to history. Few people have done more to change that than Massimo Alois and his family. In the early 1990s, they began a remarkable project to rediscover and revive ancient local varieties such as Pallagrello Bianco, Pallagrello Nero, and Casavecchia—grapes once favored by the Bourbon kings and nearly extinct from modern winemaking. Today, Cantine Alois is considered one of the leading voices preserving the viticultural heritage of northern Campania.

What makes this evening especially exciting is that the wines won't just represent Massimo—he'll be here in person to tell the story himself. Over the years, I've had the pleasure of getting to know Massimo, and anyone who has spent time with him knows that his passion for Campania is contagious. He has an incredible ability to connect history, place, food, family, and wine in a way that makes every glass feel like part of a much bigger story.

We'll taste through a selection of wines while exploring the unique landscape of Campania, from volcanic soils and mountain vineyards to the indigenous grapes that make this region unlike anywhere else in Italy. If you want to go beyond simply tasting wine and hear directly from the person behind it, this is one of those rare opportunities you won't want to miss.
