Wine School: Drink Better, Know More - We connect the dots between grape, place, and winemaking in a way that’s clear and useful so you can trust your palate, choose with confidence, and get more out of every bottle.
We’ve been here before—but with biodynamics, you can never know enough...
Biodynamics gets talked about a lot, but it’s often either oversimplified or pushed into the “mystical” corner. In this class, we’re revisiting it in a more grounded, practical way—focusing on what growers are actually doing in the vineyard and how those choices might show up in the glass.
Cow horns. Chamomile. Quartz. Dandelions. Compost. If you've ever wondered what biodynamic winemakers are actually spraying in their vineyards—and why—this class is for you.
In this second class of our series, we'll take a closer look at the famous biodynamic preparations, from the legendary horn manure and horn silica sprays to the herbal compost preparations made from yarrow, nettle, oak bark, and valerian. We'll explore where these practices came from, what they're intended to accomplish in the vineyard, and how they fit into the broader philosophy of biodynamic farming.
As always, we'll separate science from symbolism, and taste five wines from biodynamic producers who have embraced these practices. Whether you're a skeptic, a believer, or just plain curious, you'll leave with a much better understanding of one of the wine world's most intriguing farming philosophies.
If you joined us last time, this builds on that foundation. If you didn’t, you’ll still be right at home. Either way, expect a thoughtful lineup, lots of good questions, and a better understanding of why these decisions matter, both in the vineyard and in the glass.
