Friday Night Wine School - Decoding Wine Speak, Part I

Fri Oct 2, 2026 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM CDT Swirl, 70119

Wine School: Drink Better, Know More - We connect the dots between grape, place, and winemaking in a way that’s clear and useful so you can trust your palate, choose with confidence, and get more out of every bottle.

A Two-Part Friday Night Wine School Series

Crunchy. Salty. Waxy. Chewy. Wine people use some pretty odd words to describe what's in the glass. But what do those words actually mean? And what makes a wine taste or feel that way?

For this two-part Friday Night Wine School series, we're digging into the language of wine and the science behind it. Each week we'll taste five very different wines, each chosen to bring one of these sometimes confusing descriptors to life.

Part I will be lead by Wesley and Part II by Alex.  We'll talk about what you're actually tasting, smelling or feeling, then look at why it's happening—from grape variety and acidity to fermentation, tannin, texture, winemaking and more. We'll even bust a few wine myths along the way.

Because it's one thing to hear someone call a wine "crunchy." It's another thing entirely to taste it and suddenly think, Oh. THAT'S what they mean.

Two Fridays. Ten wines. Ten wine words that might finally start making sense.
