Wine School: Drink Better, Know More - We connect the dots between grape, place, and process in a way that’s clear and useful so you can trust your palate, choose with confidence, and get more out of every bottle.
Back in early June, we hosted a Trust Your Importer event with Micaela Tuttle of North Berkeley - her passionate, funny and thoughtful presentation was so engaging that I told her we'd love to have back. Well I got my wish and she is back for the second time this year!
North Berkeley Imports has long been one of those importers that wine professionals quietly obsess over. For decades, they’ve played a major role in shaping how many Americans understand classic European wine, introducing generations of drinkers to benchmark producers from regions like Burgundy, the Loire, Piedmont, Germany, and beyond. Named Importer of the Year by Wine & Spirits Magazine multiple times, their portfolio helped define what “traditional” European wine looks and tastes like: wines rooted in place, made with restraint, balance, and a strong connection to farming and history rather than trends or heavy handed winemaking. Long before terms like terroir driven and minimal intervention became marketing buzzwords, North Berkeley was building relationships with growers who simply farmed thoughtfully and made honest wines because that’s how it had always been done.
This time we'll focus exclusively on the Italian side of their portfolio, including wines that are new to the market here in New Orleans - because you can never have enough Italian wine... Plus, keep an eye out for my post on social media for our upcoming wine dinner with Micaela at Rosedale on November 3rd!! Details TBA but this will be amazing!
