Join us for our attendance-limited, signup-only Friday night tasting! Depending upon the weather, tastings are held on the patio or the back of the shop with a max of 10 people per time slot.
8,000 years - that's how long the people in the republic of Georgia have been making wine. Considered the oldest wine producing region in the world, Georgia is currently one of the hottest areas for authentic, natural style wines at affordable prices. Boasting more than 500 varieties of indigenous grapes, the majority of wines are produced in the ancient method of using Qvevri, large clay amphora, buried underground for temperature stabilization. The production style of the wines has changed little throughout its 8,000-year history – whole cluster fermentation is the norm, native yeasts are almost always used and little to no sulfites are added to the wines.
Join Gina Warren from Lirette Selections this Friday for a tasting of 5 authentic wines from the region - known for their skin-fermented whites, there will for sure be one or two orange wines, maybe a white, a pet nat a red or two made from my current grape obsession, Saperavi. If you like terroir driven, unique, original and delicious wines made from ancient varieties - this tasting is for you. Or if you just want to learn a little about the oldest wine region in the world, join us!
Here's how it will work:
-You sign up for a time slot where you will taste with 9 other people. It is $5 to attend but you will receive that $5 back with the purchase of a bottle of any of the wines presented.
