Natural before natural was a thing....Louis/Dressner Selections is an import company based in New York City that specializes in importing and distributing wines from small, independent, and family-owned wineries across Europe. The company was founded in 1988 by Joe Dressner and Denyse Louis, and it quickly gained a reputation for its focus on sourcing wines that showcased authenticity, terroir, and traditional winemaking methods.
Their focus has always been on working with artisanal winemakers who prioritize organic or biodynamic farming practices, minimal intervention in the winemaking process, and a commitment to preserving the unique characteristics of their respective regions. They have a strong emphasis on wines from France, particularly from the Loire Valley, Beaujolais, and the Jura, but they also feature wines from Italy, Spain, Germany, and other European countries.
Louis/Dressner Selections has also been very influential in the natural wine movement, advocating for transparency in winemaking, supporting small-scale producers, and promoting wines that express a sense of place and the winemaker's vision. Their wines have garnered praise from critics and enthusiasts for their quality, authenticity, and ability to reflect the character of their respective vineyards. Their focus has always been on the vignerons, on the people who make the wines. And many of the producers in their portfolio are legends now: Domaine de la Pépière, Baudry, Pinon, Puzelat, Jean-Paul Brun, Desvignes, Descombes, Clos Rougeard, Clos Roche Blanche, Occhipinti, Foradori… and on and on.
Our friends at Lirette Selections have represented this portfolio forever and have continued to grow and expand their selections over the years. We will be presenting new vintages, new wines and tried and true favorites. I hope you’ll join us - Line up is TBA but just trust us! (truly!)
