About Sydney Marae Alliance

Sydney Marae Alliance (SMA) is a Māori community organisation based in Western Sydney, dedicated to building Australia’s first purpose-built Māori Cultural Centre. Located on a 1.5-hectare site at 7 Hyland Road, Greystanes NSW, this future marae will serve as a home for whānau, a centre for tikanga and te reo Māori, and a gathering place that strengthens connection to te ao Māori for generations to come.

SMA brings together volunteers, community leaders, and supporters who share a vision: a permanent place where Māori culture can be practised, celebrated, and passed on, right here in Sydney. Through events, partnerships, and grassroots fundraising, we are turning that vision into reality, brick by brick, hāngi by hāngi.

We welcome anyone who wants to be part of this kaupapa: whether through volunteering, sponsorship, or simply showing up and being part of the whānau.
