Infinite Horizons - A Megagame

Sat 22 Jun 2024 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM Harold Park Community Hall, 1 Dalgal Wy, Forest Lodge NSW 2034, 2034

Miss out on your ticket? Check out the second run of this game here!

Set in a futuristic science-fiction environment, the game explores the development of a new human colony on a far-flung world. As players, you will be part of a team representing one of the nine major factions, and take a key role in shaping the civic, industrial and political development of the Colony during those vital first few years. You’ll react to new challenges and strive to overcome both external and internal threats, balancing the interests of the Colony with those of your sponsor back on Earth.

During the course of the game, you will explore how humanity can overcome its differences and work together to achieve great thing and how ambition, greed, nationalism and self-interest can undermine even the best intentions.

Is it possible to balance the two? Could a mission of such grand scale bring people of all nations, creeds and corporations together… or in the end, will it be just another tool in the struggle for power?

teams and the player roles 📄 here.

⚠️Note: Tickets to this game will be sold per team. When proceeding to checkout, you will be asked to select a ticket type which aligns with a certain team, rather than just a generic ticket. Consider this ahead of ticketing time, as some teams might sell out fast! Info on teams is linked above.

About the Day

  • The game will be held on Saturday, 22 June, at Harold Park Community Hall in Sydney.
  • Light rail from Central gets you there very quickly, but there is also a smattering of parking around the area, and several bus routes.
  • Doors will open around 9:30am on the day, and we’ll likely be at the venue through to 5pm.
  • There will be a short lunch break during the game. Pre-game information will direct you to the best ways to make use of this time - the venue is amongst plenty of grocers and cafes.
  • There will be an after-event at a local pub or bar. More information about that will be circulated to players before the day.
  • Regarding accessibility and facilities, the venue:
    • is accessible via lift
    • does not include any internal stairs or steps
    • is air conditioned
    • has access to an accessible bathroom
    • has a kitchen with fridges and microwaves available for use by players (just let a faciliator know you're doing so!)

Ticketing Information

  • Tickets are on sale to the general public at 8pm, Monday 29 April.
  • Tickets are sold per team (5 roles per team). The exception is the Colony Council 'faction', which we are deliberately selling tickets to individually. We highly recommend this team not be a predefined group of players, like a friends or family group.
  • Note: once you add tickets to your cart, they are held for you! You have plenty of time to fill in player details.
  • You can read about the different teams and factions here:
  • You can purchase multiple tickets on multiple teams, as you see fit. All tickets are $45.
  • If you are purchasing multiple tickets, have the contact information for your teammates on hand (name, email address, phone number).
  • The contact details we collect will only ever be used to reach you about this specific event (unless you opt in for our mailing list)
  • Please do not purchase tickets if you do not have a confirmed attendee for them.
  • Some tickets may have been sold in pre-sale. Pre-sale tickets are offered to Sydney Megagamers Members and to those volunteers who helped run our last event.

Refund Policy

  • We offer refunds up to 14 days prior to the event.
  • After that time, and up to 48 hours prior to the event, we will offer a refund if we are able to otherwise re-sell your ticket to another player.
  • We are unfortunately unable to offer refunds in the last 48 hours prior to the event, even if we manage to find someone to take your place in the game.
  • If you purchased a ticket and would like to seek a refund, please email us.
  • Refunds are not inclusive of several nominal fees charged during the admin of ticketing, meaning the refunded price may be slightly less than what you originally paid.

Merchandise

  • We offer refunds up to 14 days prior to the event.
  • After that time, and up to 48 hours prior to the event, we will offer a refund if we are able to otherwise re-sell your ticket to another player.
  • We are unfortunately unable to offer refund
  • Sydney Megagamers is a not-for-profit association which uses funds collected to fuel our passion in bringing megagame events to Sydney.
  • Nobody involved in running our events receives remuneration - we are all volunteers.
  • As a way to represent the community and to help us out, we offer a few pieces of merchandise when buying tickets. This merchandise is entirely optional - buying a ticket to our event helps balance our books for running that event, buying merch is just a plus!
  • Funds produced from merchandise help us invest more into future events and key pieces of inventory to improve the way we do things (things like IT equipment, website hosting fees, etc).
  • If you do choose to purchase any merchandise, physical items will be available to pick up when you arrive at the event.
  • If you're unsure, you can also check out (and buy, if so choose!) the merchandise on game day.
  • For a snapshot on how we are funded and how we operate, you can read our 2023 Year in Review on our website.
  • We always appreciate your support, and coming to a megagame is the best support there is!
