The Lighthouse (19 July 2025) - A Megagame

Sat 19 Jul 2025 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM Lachlan's Line Auditorium Lachlan's Line Square, Jarvis Cct, North Ryde, 2113

We've sailed farther than most.
Witnessed storms that speak and ice that sings.
Told stories in bustling taverns to eager listeners held captive by tales of distant shores.
Out there, beyond any known horizon, something inspires us— calls to us.
We're all drawn to that beacon.

Driven by ambition, a new discovery, a promise of eternal fame. The simple romance of the open sea.
Yet, still, there's something more out there, something extraordinary waiting for us to know.

Some believe THE LIGHTHOUSE shines simply to warn ships from danger.
But we've come to see it differently.

It guides us towards destiny

The Lighthouse is a thematic, player-driven story set in the unexplored waters surrounding the eponymous building.

Players take on the roles of the enigmatic Keepers, daring Explorers, or their conspicuous Patrons. Each has their own agendas and paths to glory. Players tell Stories of incredible feats and build their Reputation.

The primary mechanic in the game is a simple exploration puzzle to solve. The simple mechanics exist as a platform for you to Negotiate, Barter, Co-operate, Build Alliances and more.

There are no 'war maps' or 'units on a board' conflict.

Interested, but no idea what a megagame is? We’ve got you covered:

  • Watch one of our previous megagames The Generalissimo is Dead
  • Read the recap by one of our player’s detailing their game experience here
  • Listen to us try to explain what a megagame is all about on our podcast

You can read more about the game (and the different
factions) on 📃our website.

⚠️Note: Tickets to this game will be sold per team. When proceeding to checkout, you will be asked to select a ticket type which aligns with a certain team, rather than just a generic ticket. Consider this ahead of ticketing time, as some teams might sell out fast! Info on teams is linked above.

About the Day

The game will be held on Saturday 19th July, 2025, at Lachlan's Line Auditorium in North Ryde.

The venue is a 5 minute walk from the nearby metro station, aligned with bus routes, and has ample parking about 10 minutes walk away.

Doors will open around 9:30am on the day, and we’ll likely be at the venue through to 5pm.

There will be a short lunch break during the game. Pre-game information will guide you on how to make the most of this time, including where nearby groceries and takeaways are.

There will be an after-event at a local pub or bar. More information about that will be circulated to players before the day.

Regarding accessibility and facilities, the venue:

  • is accessible (ground floor only, no stairs)
  • does not include any internal stairs or steps, except for small stage which may be used for announcements
  • is air conditioned
  • has access to an accessible bathroom
  • has a kitchenette with water, limited fridge space, a microwave and kettle.

Ticketing Information

Tickets are on sale to the general public at 8pm, Monday 19 May 2025.

Tickets are sold per team with 3 in each sub-team, and you will work with the other explorers in your society. If you want to play with friends we recommend playing on a sub-team together.

Note: once you add tickets to your cart, they are held for you! You have plenty of time to fill in player details.

You can purchase multiple tickets on multiple teams, as you see fit. If you are purchasing multiple tickets, have the contact information for your teammates on hand (name, email address, phone number). Please do not purchase tickets if you do not have a confirmed attendee for them.

The contact details we collect will only ever be used to reach you about this specific event (unless you opt in for our mailing list).

Further details about your team and your roles will be emailed to the ticket holder two weeks before game day.

Some tickets may have been sold in pre-sale. Pre-sale tickets are offered to Sydney Megagamers Members and to those volunteers who helped run our last event.

Refund Policy

We offer refunds up to 14 days prior to the event. After that time, and up to 48 hours prior to the event, we will offer a refund if we are able to otherwise re-sell your ticket to another player.

We are unfortunately unable to offer refunds in the last 48 hours prior to the event, even if we manage to find someone to take your place in the game.

If you purchased a ticket and would like to seek a refund, please email us. Refunds are not inclusive of several nominal fees charged during the admin of ticketing, meaning the refunded price may be slightly less than what you originally paid.

Merchandise

Sydney Megagamers is a not-for-profit association which uses funds collected to fuel our passion in bringing megagame events to Sydney. Nobody involved in running our events receives remuneration - we are all volunteers.

As a way to represent the community and to help us out, we offer a few pieces of merchandise when buying tickets. This merchandise is entirely optional - buying a ticket to our event helps balance our books for running that event, buying merch is just a plus!

Funds produced from merchandise help us invest more into future events and key pieces of inventory to improve the way we do things (things like IT equipment, website hosting fees, etc).

If you do choose to purchase any merchandise, physical items will be available to pick up when you arrive at the event. If you're unsure, you can also check out (and buy, if so choose!) the merchandise on game day.

For a snapshot on how we are funded and how we operate, you can read our 2024 Year in Review on our website.

We always appreciate your support, and coming to a megagame is the best support there is!

I have sailed farther than most.
Witnessed storms that hunt and the cries of ice.
I have sold stories to strangers in taverns where the shadows lean closer, desperate for whispered secrets.
Out there, beyond any sensible edge of reason,
something calls to us. Waits for us.
We are all bound to that beacon.

Driven by ambition. A discovery never found.
Remaining riches for simple promised payment.
And yet; something else, beyond what is found beneath the waves. Something drives us to knowing.

Some believe THE LIGHTHOUSE shines simply to warn
ships from danger.
But I have learned otherwise.

It is not your ships the light is keeping safe.
