The mystical roots of Flamenco and Qawwali
Flamenco and Qawwali were born in different worlds, yet they’re often felt as spiritual “relatives”, traditions driven by trance-like rhythm, powerful poetry, and a shared, communal intensity. In southern Spain, the legacy of Al-Andalus, Mediterranean cultural crossroads, and the historical presence of Romani communities shaped devotional musical languages for centuries. This concert invites listeners to hear that deeper connection through the source tradition itself: Sufi Qawwali, shrine music of longing, praise, and ecstatic remembrance.
Fanna-Fi-Allah live in concert
Now in their 26th year of international touring, Fanna-Fi-Allah is among the foremost traditional Qawwali ensembles performing today. With thousands of performances across 50+ countries, they carry the living spirit of Sufi shrine music to global audiences, offering a rare and powerful immersion into this devotional art form.
Led by Tahir Qawwal and supported by masterful tabla, harmonium, and choral vocals, the group remains rooted in the classical Qawwali tradition, without fusion, electronics, or pop crossover. Expect soaring chorus lines, deep rhythmic cycles, and the poetry of great Sufi saints such as Amir Khusrau and Baba Farid, creating an atmosphere that transcends language and background and invites everyone into a shared space of unity and divine love.
