India has the most varied media landscape in the world, across English, vernacular and regional media.
Not-for-profit initiative Talk Journalism hosts its tenth edition - to explore this fast-developing media space with counterparts from across the British media industry.
Talk Journalism is built on the thought that there is a need to discuss and debate journalism, a profession that discusses everything, but seldom talks about itself. In the fast-developing era of technology, the media space is changing like never before. There is a need for a platform where professions, trends, technological advances and challenges are discussed and debated. Beyond this, there is a need for journalists outside India to understand the different 'Indias' that exist: the urban, English-speaking India vs the semi-urban, Hindi-speaking Bharat; the strong regional identities vs the dominant Hindi belt; and the parts of India far from newsrooms and their talking heads shows vs one that is typically seen by foreign visitors.
Why Attend
Talk Journalism is an initiative of The Vox Media Foundation (an Indian Section 8 company) which aims at bridging this gap and takes a step towards initiating the media dialogue. The journey of Talk Journalism started in July 2012 with a simple tweet call to journalists to come forward and discuss the Evolution of collaborative journalism and the future of ‘online’ journalism in India?
