Donncha MacGahbann, 'A Magnificent Obsession: The Two Scribes of the Book of Kells'

In this free Stories on Skins event sponsored by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Donncha MacGhann will talk about his research into the Book of Kells, which he has been studying for the past two decades. Join us for what promises to be a fascinating talk on the Book of Kells and its connections to Portmahomack! Don will share his passion for the Book of Kells with us, and the reasons it has become a 'magnificent obsession' for him. Importantly, Dr MacGabhann concludes that only two individuals, who he refers to as the Scribe-Artist and the Master-Artist, were involved in its creation.

Donncha MacGabhann is an expert on insular manuscripts, especially the Book of Kells. He is dedicated to communicating his research to both the academic and the wider community. Recently, he published The Book of Kells - A Masterwork Revealed.
