Join us in London on 1 October for our practical, in-person training, ‘Introduction to implementation and process evaluation’.

What is implementation and process evaluation?

Implementation and process evaluation (IPE) examines how an activity is put into practice, how it works to achieve its intended outcomes, and the factors that influence these processes. IPE can tell us whether an activity was implemented as planned, and which elements of the activity are important for achieving desired outcomes.

About the session

During this session you will learn about key IPE concepts:

  • The main principles of IPE and its relevance to evaluating activities.

  • How to clearly define an intervention and use a theory of change to establish the foundations of an evaluation.

  • How to plan and deliver a robust IPE, including effective approaches to data collection and reporting

  • How to use evaluation findings to strengthen delivery and improve practice

What to expect from the training

  • You’ll work directly on your own evaluation plan throughout the session, with personalised guidance and support from experienced facilitators.

  • The session will include a mix of presentations, activities, and group discussions, giving you the opportunity to interact with other practitioners and evaluators, and learn from one another.

By the end of the session, you will have enhanced your knowledge of best-practice evaluation methods and walk away with a draft IPE plan.

Who should attend?

  • Individuals in any role within higher education providers or third-sector organisations who are involved in evaluation.

  • Experienced evaluators seeking to refresh their knowledge of IPEs.

  • Practitioners, managers, coordinators, and widening participation team members involved in evaluation.

Preparation

  • We recommend participants come with an activity in mind that they would like to develop an evaluation plan for, and ideally a theory of change for that activity.

Pricing

  • Standard rate: £349 + VAT
