Help save our flying insects with this important biodiversity count.
Come and protect the pollinators of London Bridge at this daytime nature event around in our parks and gardens. This is a call out for anyone passionate about saving essential species that keep our plants alive and our food growing. Join us for a Flying Insect Timed (FIT) count day – you will follow our newly updated Green Spaces Trail and do a 10-minute count of a 50cm area at each site – recording your findings with the easy to use FIT App.
The event will be facilitated by Benny Hawksbee, Community Gardener at Eden Nature Garden in Clapham. A self-taught pollinator expert, Benny combines his gardening experience and a background in marine biology with a deep passion for the bee kingdom, and is actively working to preserve green spaces and nurture pollinators across London.
Meeting point: London Bridge Hive, 8 Holyrood Street, SE1 2EL
Plan: Groups of 5-6 will split up and walk 10mins to different sites, conducting a 10 minute count in each location, hopefully getting to 6 locations and returning to Potters Fields to share data.
Equipment: A smartphone or note-pad and pen, and suitable clothes for the weather
