Why we need to make better Tech for Disability
Why we need to make better Tech for Disability
Share this event
It's time the tech industry took note of the market opportunities, innovation possibilities & different needs of disabled & neurodivergent people.
Key questions to raise include:
Why does this matter?
How can this be done?
Who can do this?
What does the tech industry need to know?
Partnerships between lived experience, the audience, the tech industry and business can ensure disabled people get the right solutions and resources to deliver them.
Along with events to bring these partners together, Tech For Disability is launching an online resource hub to raise disabled and neurodivergent perspectives, guidance, best practices, emerging tech and market information aimed at the tech industry and supporting lived experience social tech entrepreneurs.
We will hear from a fantastic collection of three inclusive tech entrepreneurs and professionals who will share their perspectives on why we must create more innovative digital services, the role of lived experience, and how the tech industry and businesses can ensure their customers get the right solutions and resources. Then, we will open it up to the audience for their views:
Sam Manning, changing the game with his bank management system supporting neurodivergents, gives firsthand insight into how tech can help the disabled and neurodiverse.
Blue Badge Style CEO Fiona Jarvis, with over 20 years of experience in the accessibility space, provides a rich background in connecting the corporate sector with accessibility and explaining how her lived experience shaped her career.
Matthew Bellringer is currently working to assist neurodiverse innovation and support those attempting to address issues from a different perspective. As co-founder of the British Computing Society NeurodiverseIT, his inclusive workplace consultancy, podcast and online community Curious Being, Matthew is at the forefront of how things can change.
It will be a relaxed, informal, Inclusive Conversation online with Zoom. It will use Zoom's accessibility features, such as subtitles, chat, reactions and a live transcript.
The duration will be one hour. The video and sound recordings will be made using Zoom. Transcribing will support the notes, and a summary will be published afterwards. Please let us know of any particular accessibility needs we can try to assist with.
