Twitter @ 20: The Platform that Radically Changed (Us)

In 2026, the platform formally known as Twitter reached it's 20th anniversary. That's 20 years of elections, political campaigns, and communication between elites and citizens.

To reflect of 20 years of political social media, the Technology, Internet, & Policy (TIP) Group is hosting a online roundtable, bringing together reflections from scholars who worked on the early days of the political internet, to those who study more modern features such as politician's use of short form video. In this we hope to uncover the profound impact on politics and society Twitter had, and discuss on what its legacy might look like, followed by a Q&A by the audience.

The panel will consist of four experts in the field, including:

• Prof Stephen Coleman, University of Leeds

• Prof Sanjay Sharma, University of Warwick

• Dr Rosalynd Southern, University of Liverpool

Invites will be supplied to all those who get their tickets from Ticket Tailor - so make sure to sign up today.
