Summary - Overview of Talk
Embodying both Cinematic and Gameplay experience at Larian Studios, this specialist masterclass delves into the creative process of benchmarking the character animation seen in Baldur’s Gate 3.
At Larian, a Senior Animator is often tasked with benchmarking which is the process of creating the identity of the character in the animation and setting the gold standard of quality for those assets to be replicated across the game. In this task you ascertain where to add creativity and personality, suitable for your team requirements and being mindful of any restrictions as you work with large teams and different departments.
Teamwork is therefore hugely important and Gerry will showcase examples of where to add that all important charm from the expansive form of cinematics to gameplay features with highly restrictive game mechanics.
Interwoven in this presentation, Gerry Jacobs will speak about her career originating from a traditional background and spanning multiple industries and explain how those fundamental skills apply to her job today and how they can adapt to different job roles for a career with longevity.
In the remaining hour of this workshop, Gerry will be available to offer one-on-one portfolio reviews, project feedback and/or career advice to the participants at the workshop - so bring your projects, portfolios, questions and career aspirations with you!
