TELSIG Symposium - Tech, Teaching and Togetherness
The Technology-Enhanced Learning SIG (TELSIG) is delighted to announce our first online symposium of the New Year, to be held on 3rd February 2026 10:00-12:00 GMT.
The theme for this year’s event, Tech, Teaching and Togetherness, invites colleagues across the BALEAP community and beyond to reflect honestly on the challenges and joys of teaching with (and sometimes without) technology.
We are pleased to have Sophia Mavridi (De Montfort University) as a keynote speaker for the event. Her talk is titled Behind the scenes: How students use AI (and what we can learn from it).
Following Sophia's talk, there will be a series of lightning talks:
- Jinyang Song: When Students Don’t Know What to Ask AI: Teaching Collaborative Interaction with AI Agents
- Jolanta Hudson: Making AI Evaluation Social: Group Discussion as Critical Digital Literacy Practice in EAP
- Shuangxin Zhang and Jiashi Wang: Designing AI-Supported Tasks That Build Confidence and Interaction.
- Kelly Webb-Davies: Validity, Accessibility, and Authenticity: What EAP Can Teach the University About Assessment
- Garth Elzerman and Ediyanto Liu: Teaching Together in Fragmented Digital Spaces: What Student Use of Technology Tells Us About Engagement and Belonging
- Elhadj Moussa BenMoussa: Togetherness Under Pressure: Digital Saturation, Attention, and Human Connection in Academic English Teaching
