Do you wonder how different rabbis come up with so many different ways of interpreting the same text?

Would you love to learn more seriously, but just don’t have the Hebrew skills?

This class is for you! Join Rabbi Rosen and a group of new friends from all over the Valley for a weekly dive into the Book of Exodus (Sefer Shemot). Using the second volume of The Commentators’ Bible - Exodus, by Michael Carasik*, we will proceed verse by verse, learning to do a very close reading of the text, and then exploring the understandings of many of the most famous commentators from across Jewish history. Rashi, Ramban, Abarbanel, Ibn Ezra and more will become our guides as we gain a more nuanced way of exploring the “seventy voices” of the text.The discussion is free flowing and often gets sidelined as we apply this learning to our own times and lives.
